Prior to this position he was Director for innovation Technology and Regional Action ( Ministry of Research 1992-1996),Director for Industry,Research and Environment ( Paris Region 1986-1992), Director for Chemical and Textile Industries(Ministry of Industry 1982-1986).

After graduation from the Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines, his career included responsibilities in car safety, nuclear safety, prevention of industrial pollutions and in regional development. He also was director of an engineering school
